Santa Rosa is located in the heart of wine country, allowing us to work in one of the most beautiful places in California. Apart from having miles of rolling hills filled with grape vineyards, it has many other wonderful features. We have access to some wonderful destinations nearby such as, Bodega Bay, The Luther Burbank Center, The Charles M. Schulz Museum, Napa Valley, and much more. Our Santa Rosa team also gets the opportunity to offer our services to people on the Russian River, nestled deep in the Redwoods, and right on the California coast.
Santa Rosa was founded in 1833 previously occupied by tribal groups, mainly a Pomo tribe known as the Bitakomtara. In the years to come there would be a Wells Fargo post that would come into the town, a general store, and a town square to accommodate the growing population. Once California became a state in 1850, the population continued to increase and in 1870 it was the eighth largest city in the state. The 1906 earthquake took quite a toll on the city toppling almost all of the downtown area. There was a slow decline in population as time went on, but popularity grew after Alfred Hitchcock shot his film, Shadow of a Doubt in 1943, showcasing the newly rebuilt downtown. Flash forward to modern day, where the population has grown close to 200,000 people and is surrounded by the thriving wine, hospitality, and tourism industries.
Santa Rosa present day is home to hundreds of wineries spread across the city. Rich in agricultural land ideal for pastures, wineries, and other crops, Santa Rosa is largely known for its production of some of the finest wines in Sonoma County. Tourists come from all across the world to tour through the wine country and visit wineries and vineyard destinations. While wineries remain one of the largest attractions, there is also a plethora of breweries visited by thousands of people each year. Home to famous locations such as, Francis Ford Coppola, Rodney Strong, and Korbel, Santa Rosa is definitely one of the most popular wine country destinations.
There are also many unique attractions exclusive to Santa Rosa. One in particular being Safari West, which is home to hundreds of exotic wildlife animals. This incredibly unique attraction offers safaris, educational tours, and specialized overnight stays allowing the public to be immersed in the safari experience. Our Santa Rosa team had the opportunity to take part in one of the safaris as an office outing a few years ago and it was truly an unforgettable adventure.
Other attractions unique to Santa Rosa include the beautifully preserved state parks and recreation areas. One in particular, Spring Lake Regional Park, is hugely popular. With miles of hiking trails, a campground, and a beautiful lake for fishing, this is a highly visited park year round in Santa Rosa. Other locations include Trione-Annadel State Park and Howarth Park, both great locations for a family picnic or a walk around the lake on a sunny day. Many visitors also stop to spend time at the Russian River which runs through most of Sonoma County. Its beaches are a great place to take friends and family out for some fun in the sun. Also popular is taking a leisurely float down the river or spending the day fishing in the deep pools.
Another incredibly unique attraction which Santa Rosa has the honor to bear is the Charles M Schulz Museum. Schulz, the author of the beloved Peanuts series started the cartoon in the 1950s after years of attempting to breach his way into the comic world. The popularity of the comic strip only grew as time went on and more and more people were exposed to this talented cartoonist’s work, and fell in love with his characters. The peanuts brought so many families, friends, and groups together by a shared love of the quirky comic strip staring the witty beagle, Snoopy. After Schulz’s passing in 2000, there was a hugely passionate initiative to open a museum in his honor. For years of community service, outreach, and the joy brought to people all around the world, the Charles M Schulz Museum and Research Center opened its doors in 2002. Along with the museum was the installation of Peanuts character statues around the City of Santa Rosa. Over 15 years later, the museum and statues remain some of the most beloved attractions in Santa Rosa.
For these reasons and more, our Santa Rosa team members are lucky to work in such a diverse and unique place. The history and passion of its community members make Santa Rosa a truly special place to work in.
